Our Only Hope

This small batch of paintings is drawn from The Birth Flower Collection, a body of work celebrating life, hope, and God’s intimate care for each person from the very beginning.

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”

Psalm 139:13-14

This small batch of work features Lily of the Valley (May Birth Flower) &  Larkspur (July Birth Flower)—flowers whose symbolism reflects the heart of the gospel itself.

Lily of the Valley, often associated with rebirth and renewal, emerges each spring after a long winter, bearing delicate blooms that speak of life restored. In this collection, it points to the greater reality of our regeneration in Christ—that through His death and resurrection, we are made new.

Larkspur, long recognized as a symbol of love, reflects the steadfast and self-giving love revealed to us in Jesus Christ. It points beyond human affection to the divine love that entered into suffering on our behalf—a love that does not retreat in the face of pain or uncertainty. In Christ, we are held by a love that is sacrificial, faithful, and victorious over sin and death.

I pray that the paintings in this collection not only celebrate life—or honor a life lost—but ultimately lift our eyes beyond anything or anyone in this world.

May they point to the sure and living hope we have in the gospel of Jesus Christ: that through His life, death, and resurrection, suffering does not have the final word, death is not the end, and our hope is secured not in what we see, but in who He is.

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.’”

John 11:25–26
