Golden Light - Available with The Scouted Studio
These fall landscape paintings were inspired by Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
While we were in Minneapolis waiting for our daughter, Kit, to receive her bone marrow transplant, we visited this park.
It was fall, and it was beautiful. The weather was perfect, the sky was blue, the trees were dressed in beautiful fall leaves, and the golden light in Minnesota was just beautiful.
And yet, we were in a season of so much stress and unknown.
Looking back, I can see how much the Lord has done in my heart since that season. At the time, much of my hope was hung on Kit being physically restored here on earth. I thought that if my faith wavered, then that hope was lost.
But I’ve learned something since then—something I hadn’t really found the words for until recently, when I watched American Gospel: Spirit & Fire.
I thought my faith would change the outcome. I thought that if I could just have enough faith, then Kit would be healed.
But faith is not a force. Faith is trust.
Trusting Him no matter the outcome.
Trusting that He is good when I understand what He is doing, and trusting Him when I don't.
I've learned that I can bring all my doubts to Him and lay them at His feet, trusting the One who is in control and taking Him at His word.
And we know that for those who are called according to His purpose, He works all things for good. (Romans 8:28)
Fall is a season of change. The leaves turn, the landscape shifts, and what was once green becomes something altogether different. There is a beauty in it, but there is also a reminder that we are not promised permanence here.
As Christians, we have a hope that will not change.
A hope that will one day be made sight.
I pray these paintings remind us that He is faithful, even when we are not. That He is good even when our circumstances don't seem that way. And that our hope does not rest in what we can see, but in the One who has promised to make all things new.
“For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.”
Romans 8:24–25
Ideas for Styling "The Way Through"
With AI all over the internet, I thought it would be fun to sketch a way to display this painting, instead of getting AI to make a mock up!
A 36"x36" painting makes a beautiful statement on it's own.
-hang it above a console, sofa, bed or fireplace
-let it anchor a large gallery wall
