From Inspiration to Installation: Creating A Commission Triptych For Kappa Delta

I had the joy of creating this triptych for Kappa Delta at Mississippi State University. I worked alongside McKinley Bridges and WBA Architecture to bring their vision to life.

Dogwood Painting

The process began with one of my existing paintings—a dogwood piece that they loved. From there, they shared fabrics, colors, and finishes being used throughout the space, which gave me a beautiful starting point for developing something that felt cohesive with the dining hall.

Design

We moved into the sketching phase, where I created several rounds of designs and refined the pieces together until we found the right balance of whimsy and timelessness they were looking for. Once the direction was finalized, I moved on to the three final paintings, incorporating Kappa Delta’s signature color, nautilus shell, and iconic rose.

As a finishing touch, we added a subtle gold metallic outline to the flowers, giving the pieces a little something extra and allowing them to catch the light within the space.

These paintings are now displayed in the KD dining hall at Mississippi State, and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to bring their vision to life.

This project is such a wonderful example of what I love about commissions—starting with an idea or an existing piece you love and working together to create something completely personal to your space.
